Course Description
Whether you have never touched a piano before or you have taken lessons for years, all levels of pianists are welcome. Teacher will provide a personalized cycle of repertoire and skills to study for each student. Students can choose to work in the keyboard lab or utilize our practice rooms with full-sized upright pianos. Repertoire is enhanced with an in-depth study of the history of composers, time periods, and performance practices. Basic theory and music reading are also offered for beginners.

EXPECTATIONS & GRADING POLICY
Classroom Expectations
1. Students are expected to arrive on time and may begin working on piano skills.
2. Students are expected to have their books and a pencil in class.
3. Students are expected to use class time constructively to practice the piano skills and new materials.
Grading
Students will be graded as follows:
-classwork assessments each week (includes appropriate use of class time, as well as care and handling of the pianos/keyboards)
-performance assessments of piano skills
-basic music theory assignments (note names and values, etc.)
-short reading assignments
-exit exam (to see what the students have achieved during the year)
-midyear and final exams
